Hellman's Offers To Pay After Customer Set Cafe On Fire 4 Not Getting Mayo

DW: The blandness of the crime adds up.

A Spanish café owner in Sevilla faced thousands of dollars in damages after a customer started a fire because he wasn't given mayonnaise packets. The incident happened at Cafetería Las Postas on August 21st when a man asked for mayonnaise for his sandwich but was told they didn't have any. He left, bought gasoline from a nearby station, returned to ask again, and when refused, poured fuel on the counter and set it ablaze.

Security footage showed customers and employees, including children, running for safety before someone used a fire extinguisher to stop the blaze. The fire caused between $8,200 and $12-thousand in damages. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt. Hellmann's Spain saw the story and offered to pay for all repairs, writing on Instagram: "Let us take care of the repairs and make sure your sandwiches never run out of mayonnaise again." The arsonist was detained by bystanders, arrested, and ordered held without bail after sustaining burns.
