Japan Introduces Drinkable Mayo For Ultimate Mayonnaise Fans

DW: I have one word: hhhhuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrlllllllllllllllllllll

Mayonnaise lovers in Japan now have the chance to take their passion to the next level with “Nomu Mayo” or “drinkable mayonnaise,” introduced by the convenience store chain Lawson. Packaged in a sleek silver cup with a design resembling a classic mayo bottle, the drink promises “the richness and sourness of mayonnaise reproduced in a chilled beverage.” However, reactions have been mixed, with one social media user calling it “incredibly awful” and warning, “No mayo lover will love this!” Another tester compared the taste to watery dressing left behind in a salad bowl.

Lawson describes the drink as “a long-awaited new product for mayonnaise lovers” but labels it as a “mayonnaise-style drink” rather than actual mayo, with ingredients like mayo-flavored seasoning and processed whole eggs. Priced at around $1.25 for a 200ml cup, the product is currently in a test phase alongside other quirky offerings like flavorless hard-boiled sweets. Whether the drink will gain popularity or remain a novelty remains to be seen, but it has certainly sparked conversation across Japan.
