Dozens Of Flights Canceled At Airport Due To Missing Scissors

DW: Better than the flights delayed due to scissoring...

A missing pair of scissors in a Japanese airport, led to a two-hour delay of security checks, causing massive delays. The scissors became lost in a store within the departure lounge of Japan’s second-busiest airport. Travelers who had already cleared security were required to do so again, resulting in even longer lines, and passengers were already dealing with the chaos of traveling after the Japanese holiday, Obon.

The scissors were later found in the store, by a store employee. Following the incident, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism requested an investigation to prevent future occurrences, citing concerns about potential hijacking or terrorism risks. Hokkaido Airports acknowledged the need for “improved storage and management systems at the store.”
