OKLAHOMA SENATOR TRYING TO GET ADULT FILMS BANNED IN THE STATE

DW: Is this like trying to ban water and oxygen?

A senator in Oklahoma is introducing a bill that would make creating and distributing adult movies illegal. State Senator Dusty Deevers introduced the act prohibiting Oklahomans from producing or disseminating “unlawful” pornography lacking “serious” scientific, political, educational, literary, or artistic purposes or value. The bill also targets those “aiding or abetting pornography’s creation and spread” of the racy footage, saying criminals could face up to a year in prison and a fine of at least $2,000.

Meanwhile, Complainants can earn at least $10,000 in statutory damages from civil suits for each "depiction” produced. Translation: the bill is set up so that whoever files the complaint could potentially receive a minimum of $10,000.
