Pen Pals Married Over Zoom Divorce After Three Months And Have Never Met

A new law in Utah legalized international virtual wedding ceremonies, and that allowed British woman Ayse Reeves to marry American Darrin Martin over webcam. Three months after getting married, they’re now getting divorced, and they’ve never met in person. Why are they splitting? She says he was cheating on her, and “I couldn’t trust him.”

She says the split has affected her mental health. “I had planned my life and put so much into the marriage and making it work, so it felt like my whole world had been pulled from underneath me.” While Martin won’t confirm that he cheated, he has said he’s already in another relationship while they wait for the divorce paperwork to be finalized.
