DOCTORS IN ISRAEL "REATTACH" BOY'S HEAD AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR

DW: OOOHHHH, that head...

Doctors in Israel have re-attached a boy's head to his body after he suffered an “internal decapitation” from a car accident. When twelve-year-old Palestinian Suleiman Hassan was hit by a car while riding his bike, the base of the skull and the top of the spine become detached from his body…but his skin was still attached.

The surgery, which is only possible if major blood vessels are still able to flow to the brain, is treated by fusing the skull and spinal column together using rods, screws, plates and often bone grafts as well. Suleiman has been discharged from the hospital with no neurological or sensory problems and is still being monitored through aftercare.
