82-YEAR-OLD WOMAN ESCAPES ALLIGATOR ATTACK BY POKING IT IN EYE

DW: Better than my idea-telling it stories about when the internet was brand new...

An octogenarian is finally ready to tell her story after suffering an unthinkable alligator attack in 2021. Elsie Kyle, 82 years old, says the horrible incident happened while walking her chihuahua-dachshund dog Lulu near her home in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Kyle says that’s when an 8-foot ‘gator came out of nowhere, snapping at her legs. “I tried to run away but I lost my footing. The gator leapt out of the water and bit down across my legs. That was the first bite.” Kyle goes on to say that she was in such shock, she didn’t feel any pain.

So how did she survive the ordeal? After the reptile performed “the death roll,” which is their patented move to drown their prey, Kyle reveals she had the wherewithal to poke the alligator in its eye. Help came soon after by neighbors who heard her screams for help. Kyle was rushed to the hospital, undergoing several reconstructive surgeries for skin grafts and to place metal rods in her legs. In a stroke of more luck, Kyle added, “The orthopedic surgeon thought he might have to remove my legs but said I was an 80-year-old miracle.”
