A Houston dentist is lighting up TikTok with a video revealing that cavities can be contagious and can be spread through kissing. Dr. Tasneem Mahmood shared the info in a video that now has over a million views, with one commenter saying, “WHY do I have to learn this stuff on TikTok?”
Several studies back up the claim that cavities can be spread from one person to another since they’re mainly caused by bacteria which can be spread through kissing or sharing toothbrushes or straws. Dr. Mahmood says she’s not recommending that you don’t kiss someone with cavities…just brush and floss after.
